Abstract
Roots of Allium cepa L. were treated with water solution of cyclohexim ide (25 mg.l-1) for 24 and 48 h. After the treatment the roots were cu ltured in water for further 48 h and the restoration of influenced pro cesses was observed. The antibiotic strongly inhibited the cell divisi on, caused chromosomal and mitotic abnormalities, and disordered the p rimary meristem differentiation. These toxic effects of cycloheximide were irreversible.
