Abstract
The diffusion model presented is able to describe the parabolic and cu bic behavior of the pretransition oxidation kinetics of polycrystallin e zirconium in dry oxygen during isothermal oxidation treatments at 57 3 and 623 K. The model considers that the dynamic process of crystalli zation and recrystallization during oxidation modifies the oxygen diff usion coefficient, by decreasing the number of short circuit paths in the oxide.
