Lb. Sipahi, OVERVIEW OF APPLICATIONS OF MICROMAGNETIC BARKHAUSEN EMISSIONS AS NONINVASIVE MATERIAL CHARACTERIZATION TECHNIQUE, Journal of applied physics, 75(10), 1994, pp. 6978-6980
In this concise overview, the physical principles of magnetic Barkhaus
en effect will be briefly discussed and its recent applications in mat
erial characterization will be considered. There are new trends in mic
romagnetic Barkhausen effect emissions and its applications in the mat
erial characterization area. These emissions take place in magnetic ma
terials subjected to changing applied magnetic field, and can be used,
for instance, to study noninvasively surface characterization of mate
rials. Since these emissions are quite sensitive to changes in the mic
rostructure and subsurface stress states in magnetic materials, variou
s applications of these of micromagnetic emissions have been found in
areas such as nuclear, aerospace, and automotive technologies which us
e magnetic materials.
