The reaction of the halide-bridged dimer complex [{Pd{2,3,4-(MeO)3C6HC
(H)=NCy}Cl}2] with Ph2PC(=CH2)PPh2 (vdpp) in a dimer/diphosphine 1:1 m
olar ratio gives a yellow solid, from whose dichloromethane solution s
uitable crystals of 2,3,4-(MeO)3C6HC(H)=NCy]}2{mu-Ph2PC(=CH2)PPh2}Cl2]
(1) were grown. The structure of 1 has been determined by X-ray cryst
allography. In the structure there are two [(Pd[2,3,4-(MeO)3C6HC(H)=NC
y]}Cl] units linked by a ditertiary diphosphine (vdpp) with each palla
dium atom showing a square-planar environment. Compound 1 is a non-ele
ctrolyte, as compared to a 1:1 electrolyte structure found for a simil
ar complex.
