In an outdoor experiment, C-14-residues were found in all parts of tob
acco and wheat plants grown in soil treated with C-14-hexachlorobenzen
e (C-14-HCB). The data obtained show that an increase of C-14-HCB dosi
s in soil (0.902-3.046 mug/g) does not result in a linear increase of
concentration in all parts of the plants. It seems that the plants are
not able to accumulate the chemical in tobacco leaves and wheat seeds
, whereas higher concentrations were found in roots. Two years after a
pplication the soil contained 84 to 88 % of the applied amount of radi
oactivity, which was identified mainly as HCB.
