T. Prazuck et al., MEASLES IN IMMUNIZED CHILDREN - AN EPIDEM IOLOGIC-STUDY IN THE EAST OF PARIS, Medecine et maladies infectieuses, 24(2), 1994, pp. 83-87
During the measles epidemic which occured in the East of Paris at the
beginning of year 1992, an unusual number of immunization failures was
noted by general practitionners. The authors carried out a retrospect
ive study in this area. 101 general practitionners participated in the
study. 112 cases of measles were reported. 30,4 % out of them were im
munization failures. The analysis of these failures showed that they w
ere not related to age, date of vaccination or batch number of vaccine
. Actually, this important increase of immunization failures is relate
d to the improvement of immunization coverage which could be estimated
of 90 %. Such observations of failures must not interfere with the lo
ng-term effort of general practitionners to prescribe measles immuniza
tion. General practitionners are the main actors for the success of im
munization campaign in children.
