A twenty-one year old woman showed, in the mental and submental reqion
s, a slightly hyperpigmented 9 x 4 cm plague, the surface of which was
scattered with tiny follicular papules that became raised when rubbed
(pseudo-Darier's siqn). The plaque had first been observed when the p
atient was six years old. The histopathological study revealed a norma
l epidermis and hyperplasia of the dermal smooth muscles. The diagnosi
s was made of smooth muscle hamartoma with the peculiarities of being
acquired, located on the face, and with a papulo-follicular clinical a
spect.
