Abstract
We use Halpha line profiles as a diagnostic of mass motion and nonther mal electron precipitation in the white-light flare (WLF) of 1991 June 9 01:34 UT. We find only weak downflow velocities (almost-equal-to 10 km s-1) at the site of white-light emission, and comparable velocitie s elsewhere. We also find that electron precipitation is strongest at the WLF site. We conclude that continuum emission in this flare was pr obably caused by nonthermal electrons and not by dynamical energy tran sport via a chromospheric condensation.
