Abstract
The resistance of bulk alfalfa seeds variety Rambler (Medicago sativa, L.) to airflow was determined for airflow rates ranging from 7.54 x 1 0(-5) m3.s-1.m-2 to fluidization velocity of about 0.5 m3.s-1.m-2. For clean seed the relationship between pressure drop in Pa/m versus air flow in m3.s-1.m-2 was DELTAP = 57931 Q2/ln(1 + 2.993Q). The effects o f seed moisture content, method of fill (or bulk density), and impurit ies on the resistance to airflow were investigated.
