AEDES-ALBOPICTUS (SKUSE) (DIPTERA, CULICIDAE) IN THE WESTERN PROVINCEOF PAPUA-NEW-GUINEA AND THE THREAT OF ITS INTRODUCTION TO AUSTRALIA

In the Western Province of Papua New Guinea populations of the dengue vector Aedes albopictus were found in Daru and Kiunga, but not in thre e coastal villages opposite the Torres Strait Islands, The implication s of these findings with regard to the possible introduction of this m osquito to Australia are discussed.
