A pot trial conducted in 1992 at Ramu Sugar Ltd., Papua New Guinea, in
dicated that the leafhopper Eumetopina sp. was most effective in the t
ransmission of Ramu stunt disease of sugarcane. Ramu stunt-like sympto
ms were first observed in test sugarcane plants 9-12 weeks after the i
ntroduction of infected insects.
