Abstract
A significant population decline in the Short-billed Dowitcher maybe d ue to loss of breeding areas due to extensive flooding or drought foll owing hydroelectric project development. There is a pressing need for studies on northern shorebird breeding grounds facing development pres sure because of the possible cumulative effect of these projects.
