Abstract
As a general rule, all lesions suspicious of melanoma should be submit ted to excisional biopsy. If the lesion is so anatomically situated th at total excisionwould be mutilating or disfiguring, alternative appro aches are justified. This especially relates to lesions in the head an d neck region.
