During the Persian Gulf War, the Israeli army's Civil Defense Unit, in
conjunction with the Rehabilitation Teaching Division of Migdal Or, d
eveloped a program to train visually impaired people to protect themse
lves in the case of biological or chemical warfare and provided them w
ith equipment, including gas masks. This article describes how the pro
gram was set up and the problems that were experienced during the scud
missile attacks.
