Gi. Gorshkova et al., MYCOFLORA OF BRONCHIAL LAVAGE FLUID IN PA TIENTS WITH RESPIRATORY-DISEASES, Vestnik dermatologii i venerologii, (2), 1994, pp. 16-18
Bronchial lavage fluid of 208 patients with respiratory diseases was e
xamined to elucidate mycoflora composition and to assess its role in t
he clinical picture of the diseases. Fungal cultures grew from 76 % of
inoculated samples. Twelve fungal species were identified. Penicilliu
m, Candida, and Aspergillus were isolated most frequently. Penicillium
and Aspergillus carriership was significantly more incident in asthma
tics in comparison with patients suffering from chronic bronchitis. Th
e disease course was particularly grave and required comprehensive ant
ifungal and immuno-correcting therapy in patients in whose lavage flui
d associations of three and more fungi were detected. The most effecti
ve antimycotic agents were amphotericin B, dactarin, ancotil, nisoral,
diflucan, amphoglucamin. The study was carried out at Center for Deep
Mycoses and Mycogenic Allergy in St. Petersburg.
