Abstract
18-fs pulses from a self-mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser are amplified t o 60 muJ of energy at 4.9 kHz with chirped-pulse amplification in a Ti :sapphire regenerative amplifier. After recompression, 30-35-fs, near- transform-limited pulses are obtained.
