Lc. Liu et al., FLUAZIFOP AND QUIZALOFOP, GRASS HERBICIDES, IN COFFEE, The Journal of agriculture of the University of Puerto Rico, 77(3-4), 1993, pp. 201-205
Two experiments (nursery and field) were conducted at the Adjuntas sub
station during 1990 and 1991 to evaluate fluazifop {(+/-) [2-[4-[[5-(t
ri-fluoro-methyl)-2-pyridinyl]oxy] phenoxy]propanoic acid]} and quizal
ofop {(+/-)-2-[4[(6-chloro-2-quinoxa(inyl)oxy]phenoxy] propanoic acid}
for wood control and phytotoxicity in coffee (Coffea arabia L.). Flua
zifop at 0.28 and 1.12 kg ai/ha and quizalofop at 0.22 and 0.90 kg ai/
ha were applied as a postemergence spray. The herbicides at the indica
ted rates gave good to excellent control of all grasses present in bot
h experiments. No crop injury was noted with either herbicide. The hig
hest coffee berry yield of 14,088 kg/ha obtained in plots treated with
fluazifop at 1.12 kg ai/ha rate was not significantly different (P =
.05) from the lowest yield of (1 0,038 kg/ha) obtained in plots treate
d with quizalofop at 0.22 kg ai/ha rate.
