Abstract
Angiogenesis accompanies inflammatory processes and many other patholo gical conditions. We have studied the effect of platelet-activating fa ctor (PAF) a well-known inflammatory mediator, as a promoter of angiog enesis in the sponge implant model in mice. Development of blood vesse ls and blood flow were monitored by use of a Xe-133 washout technique. The results showed PAF to have angiogenic activity, which was inhibit ed by WEB 2086, and the PAF-induced vasculature to have normal pharmac ological reactivity.
