Abstract
Longitudinal and transverse response functions, R(L) and R(T), have be en obtained in inclusive quasi-elastic electron scattering from He-4 a nd Pb-208, for momentum transfers between 300 and 650 MeV/c and energy transfers up to 350 MeV. A quenching of R(L), approximately 14% in He -4 and approximately 50% in Pb-208 has been observed. Interpretations in terms of correlations and modification of nucleon form factors in t he nuclear medium are discussed.
