Abstract
Elaborating on notions of authority granted to white Northern feminist s as producers of (officially authoritative) accounts about ' women ', various avenues of communication with/about Third World women are dis cussed. Taking into account the personal/political locatedness of whit e academics, the paper argues for the creation of coalitions between n orthern and Third World women.
