Equilibrium in the Cellosolve-cyclohexanone system under isothermal co
nditions at 50-degrees-C has been investigated. This system is charact
erized by positive deviation from ideality, leading to the formation o
f an azeotropic mixture. The composition of the azeotropic mixture was
measured using a rectifying column. The azeotropic mixture was found
to contain 83.2 and 97.7 mole % of Cellosolve at 50 and 80-degrees-C,
respectively. At atmospheric pressure an azeotropic mixture does not e
xist. The equilibrium data obtained were treated by the thermodynamic
Herington-Redlich-Kister method.
