Abstract
A new bidesmosidic triterpenoidal saponin of hederagenin was isolated from the ethanolic extract of the roots of Symphytum officinale L. Its structure was elucidated by using H-1 NMR, H-1-H-1 COSY NMR, heteronu clear H-1-C-13 correlated spectroscopy (heteroCOSY), C-13 NMR, DEFT, F AB mass spectrometry and chemical evidence as ta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-- >6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl] ester.
