Abstract
The acetone-water solubles from quebracho tannin extract were separate d into three fractions of different molecular weights. The purified ta nnins yielded sugars and gallic acid upon acid hydrolysis, and lignin derived degradation products upon KMnO4 oxidation. It was concluded th at the sugars and the lignin are covalently linked to the condensed ta nnins.
