Abstract
In this work the electron-impact ionization of one- and two-electron a tomic systems with arbitrary nuclear charge is investigated. Distortio n of the electrons' motion in the initial and final channels is taken into account. The effect of the charge state of the residual ion on th e spin asymmetry in the total cross section is analyzed for varying in cident energies. The influence of increasing electron-ion interactions on the excess-energy sharing between the two escaping electrons is el ucidated.
