Bw. Kruszynski et Ca. Vanluttervelt, PREDICTION OF TEMPERATURE AND SURFACE INTEGRITY IN GEAR GRINDING, International journal of machine tools & manufacture, 34(5), 1994, pp. 633-640
A thermal model for a generating gear grinding operation is described.
Detailed analysis of the teeth profile created and the material shape
being removed in each generating stroke of the grinding wheel resulte
d in an evaluation of the power density distribution at the wheel-work
piece interface. The model enables the calculation of the temperature
distribution in the gear tooth during any generating stroke of the gri
nding wheel. Also, a depth of hardness change in the workpiece can be
predicted with reasonable accuracy. Some experimental results confirm
the model.
