Abstract
An anisotropy in scattering mechanism alters the effective pointing an gle and effective beamwidth of the radar. Hence a study of aspect sens itivity of atmospheric backscatter is essential for better understandi ng of radar parameters. Using the 'Doppler Beam Swinging' method an ex periment was conducted with ST mode of MST radar at Gadanki (13.47-deg rees-N, 79.18-degrees-E). From the return power profiles for various o ff-vertical angles an estimate of theta(s) (a measure of anisotropy) i s done and related effects on radar performance are studied.
