The reaction of titanium oxysulfate with an alkali-nitrate molten bath
, in the range 523-723K, leads to a pure crystallized TiO2 with large
specific surface area. Variations of the textural properties of the ox
ide according to the experimental conditions are discussed in relation
with the different reactions taking place in the molten bath. With op
timized synthesis parameters, a 100 m2/g TiO2 with average pore radii
in the range of 50-70 angstrom is obtained after annealing at 873K.
