Abstract
Chiral secondary alcohols which are protected with the enantiomericall y pure lactol 1 or 2 show significant differences in C-13-chemical shi fts around the glycosidic linkage. An easy method for determination of the absolute configuration of secondary alcohols based on this fact i s described.
