Abstract
The entire world is in trouble, only the forms differ, they may be rec ession, war, hunger, flood, fire, drugs abuse, diseases, nuclear power stations out of control etc... The entire world therefore looks for n ew models of control over the given situations. Systems thinking may p rovide some useful answers. Unfortunately, books and professional jour nals about Systems Thinking are not exactly world-wide best-sellers. F ortunately, many other books which advocate the use of Systems Thinkin g do reach this status. Is the paradigm of the Total Quality Managemen t which tends to become a policy of the most advanced countries' gover nments as well, a case of a such an indirect support for Systems Think ing? The present edition of Systems Research as a system of 15 contrib utions says: yes, it is; but it also says: it may or may not be so. Th ere is no general single model. A lot depends on influential persons a nd their tools, knowledge and values - on our and their readiness to c hange from the old practices toward innovation. One can not develop an d use models from one's garage or garden shed, unlike some, even compl ex computer-technology!
