A MONOGRAPH OF CYLINDROCLADIUM, INCLUDING ANAMORPHS OF CALONECTRIA

The genus Cylindrocladium and respective teleomorphs in the holomorph genus Calonectria are treated. The genera are circumscribed, while mor phological characters of conidia, vesicles, phialides, stipes, conidio phore branches and cultural characteristics are compared under standar dized conditions. Species are described and illustrated with reference to their pathogenicity and distribution. Comparisons are also made of perithecia, asci and ascospores of the Calonectria spp. Comparisons w ith type specimens, cultures and additional collections of various spe cies worldwide are included. In Cylindrocladium, 22 species and one va riety, C. colhounii var. macroconidialis, are recognized. Microconidia l states are newly described for C. ilicicola, C. reteaudii and C. qui nqueseptatum. Fifteen Calonectria species and one variety, Calonectria colhounii var. macrocortidialis, are recognized. Dichotomous and syno ptic keys are also provided.
