Abstract
Samples of high-purity, orthorhombic PbF2 have been produced. A small amount of scintillation light was detected during gamma-ray excitation , but only at a level which is comparable to the Cherenkov light produ ced in cubic PbF2. Samples of cubic and orthorhombic PbF2 with various dopants are also studied.
