DELTA-FUNCTION TERMS ARISING FROM CLASSICAL POINT-SOURCE FIELDS

In the context of classical vector and tensor fields, the problem of c onsistently using delta functions to represent point sources is addres sed. Specifically, a general expression for the gradient of a common t erm arising in point-source tensor fields is presented. It is shown th at the differential product rule fails for terms containing the delta function.
