Mr. Zachariah et Drf. Burgess, STRATEGIES FOR LASER-EXCITED FLUORESCENCE SPECTROSCOPY - MEASUREMENTSOF GAS-PHASE SPECIES DURING PARTICLE FORMATION, Journal of aerosol science, 25(3), 1994, pp. 487-497
Characterization of gas phase species is of fundamental importance to
a greater understanding of ps to particle conversion processes of inte
rest to materials synthesis. This paper describes the use of Laser Exc
ited Fluorescence as an in situ method for characterization of gas pha
se species in a densely laden particle forming flow. The method provid
es for non-invasive, high spatial resolution measurements in a high te
mperature hostile environment. Examples of the application of the meth
od will be described for the measurement of OH and SiO in a silica par
ticle forming high temperature flow.
