Abstract
Morphological changes during the larval development of Balanus reticul atus Utinomi are described. Larval development includes six naupliar s tages and a non-feeding cypris stage, following the general pattern of cirripedes. The most distinguishing features of B. reticulatus naupli i are the presence of preaxial hairs on the antennules of stage TI to VI and occurrence of non-serrated median spine on abdominal processes of stage IV and V. Differences in larval morphology and setation of ap pendages can be used to distinguish these larvae from those of other c losely related balanoids. Copyright (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
