Abstract
Detailed examination of 'staringite' by X-ray precession photography a nd high-resolution transmission electron microscopy shows it to consis t of a sub-microscopic intergrowth of cassiterite and tapiolite. 'Star ingite' is discredited as a valid mineral species.
