Abstract
A method of synthesis of anhydrous, high-purity vitrifying zinc chlori de is developed which is based on metal melt chlorination in a quartz reactor. A method for refining different hydrated forms of zinc chlori de is suggested. The zinc chloride samples obtained were demonstrated to be consistent with the standards for materials used in quantum elec tronics, e.g., for development and manufacturing of inorganic laser li quids and vitreous materials.
