Abstract
During orthostasis in 15 patients with vertigo and/or syncope BP decre ases are more readily detected by noninvasive beat-to-beat BP recordin g than by intermittent readings. In contrast there is only little vari ance between the results of continuous and intermittent BP readings du ring orthostasis in 15 asymptomatic controls. Hence diagnostic efficac y of orthostatism tests for vertigo and/or syncope is increased by con tinuous BP monitoring.
