Abstract
Four binuclear cadmium(II) cryptates have been synthesized by [2+3] Sc hiff-base condensation of tris(3-aminopropyl)amine with sodium 2,6-dif ormyl-4-R-phenolates (R = OCH3, CH3, Br and Cl) in the presence of Cd( ClO4)(2) . 6H(2)O. The crystal structure of the cryptate of macrocycli c L(3) (R = Br) [CdL(3)](ClO4) was determined by X-ray diffraction. Ea ch cadmium(II) atom is bonded to three mu(2)-phenoxy oxygen atoms and three imine atoms. The coordination geometry of Cd-II is considered an irregular distorted octahedron.
