Abstract
Fully time-division-multiplexed 100Gbit/s optical transmission is succ
essfully demonstrated through a 200km fibre, followed by PLL timing ex
traction and 100 to 6.3Gbit/s all-optical demultiplexing based on pola
risation-insensitive four-wave mixing. The prescaled, 0.3ps jitter 6.3
GHz clock is recovered from the 100Gbit/s signal using the four-wave m
ixing light generated in a polarisation-insensitive 100GHz laser-diode
-amplifier phase detector. Polarisation-insensitive four-wave mixing d
emultiplexing is achieved by a polarisation rotating loop mirror confi
guration.
