Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of bischelated silver(I) complexes of L(1) (L = 2-arylpyridinecarboxaldimine), [AgL2]ClO4 is reported. So lutions of the complexes are stable in methanol and chloroform, but un stable in acetonitrile. The chemical reactions of the silver complexes with chlorides of iron(III), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) have been exam ined. In all cases metal-exchange reactions take place to yield ML3(2) [M = iron(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II)]. These compounds have been characterized by comparison of their spectral data with those of auth entic samples. The redox properties of the compounds are also briefly noted.
