Abstract
We show that X-ray selected BL Lacertae objects obey the Hubble relati on and have a roughly constant spectrum from object to object, from X- rays to radio frequencies. Radio-selected BL Lac objects do not obey t he Hubble relation and we confirm that their fluxes are strongly enhan ced by the relativistic Doppler beaming effect.
