Ns. Kudryashova et al., THE RULES OF BACTERIAL LUMINESCENCE INHIB ITION IN-VITRO BY CHINONES AND PHENOLS - COMPONENTS OF SEWAGE, Biofizika, 39(3), 1994, pp. 455-464
The extinguishing of bioluminescence of the bi-fermental system: bacte
rial lucipherase-NADH:PMN-oxireductase is considered from the point of
view of the rules of the inter-molecular electron and proton transfer
between the donor (bioluminescense center) and the acceptor (the anal
yzed compound). The relation of a bioluminescense induction period to
an oxidative-reductive potential of chinone acceptor is confirmed. It
has been shown, that the induction period and the time, when biolumine
scense becomes maximal in the presence of chinones are determined by a
size of aromatic and aliphatic fragments of chinone molecule; a biolu
minescense intensity depends on a efficiency of processes of inter-mol
ecular electron and proton transfer (donor-acceptor) and on a concurre
nce of the analyzed compound with the aldehyde for the binding site to
lucipherase.
