Oligodeoxyribonucleotides of different lengths have been prepared and
linked to new stabilizing agents related to the coumarin family. These
ODNSAs (OligoDeoxyriboNucleotides with Stabilizing Agents) were teste
d against acridine connected oligomers of the same sequence. Melting t
emperature experiments demonstrated that all ODNSAs formed complexes o
f increased stability with complementary sequences of deoxyribo-20-mer
. The order of stability of duplexes showed that the coumarins stabili
ze the complexes more than the acridine and the chromone derivatives.
