A procedure is presented for extracting the singularity from the kerne
l in Pocklington's electric field integral equation for thin wires. Th
e modified kernel which results may be used to dramatically improve th
e computational efficiency of certain moment method formulations. A si
mple example is considered in which pulse basis functions and point ma
tching are used. For this case, a convenient approximation of the self
-term is also derived.
