Density, calorimetric and rheological measurements for poly(propylene
oxide)-water solutions, which are completely miscible over the total c
oncentration range, indicate that, in dilute solutions of the polymer
in water, interactions between the polymer and water are very similar
to those seen with corresponding concentrations of short chain alcohol
s in water and also suggest that specific interactions between the pol
ymer and water occur in dilute solutions of water in the polymer.
