Pa. Diner et al., USE OF CONCEALED APPROACHES TO RECONCILE COSMETIC CONSIDERATIONS WITHOPTIMAL EXERESIS IN PEDIATRIC-PATIENTS WITH FACIAL TUMORS, Annales de pediatrie, 41(5), 1994, pp. 317-323
The concealed surgical approaches used in nine children with benign or
malignant tumors are described. These approaches were selected to ach
ieve both optimal exeresis and optimal cosmetic outcomes. They require
a faultless technique to avoid injuries to the numerous vessels and n
erves of the face. The four main incisions are concealed either in an
area where scars are not visible (oral cavity, scalp) or in the natura
l folds of the face (preauricular crease, nasolabial fold). They provi
de exposure of most of the craniofacial skeleton, which is needed to a
chieve complete removal of the tumor.
