A novel coordination mode for a dithiophosphorus ligand is found in th
e structure of (diphenylphosphinodithioato)phenyltellurium(II), PhTeS2
PPh2. It consists of monomeric units self-assembled into a supramolecu
lar chain through secondary Te...S interactions (3.3383 angstrom). The
dithio ligand acts as a monodentate biconnective bridge, and is bonde
d through only one of its sulfur atoms to two tellurium atoms. This co
ordination pattern has not been observed before in any metal compound
containing dithiophosphorus ligands.
