Abstract
The electronic transition dipole moment of the B0(u)(+)-->X0(g)(+) tra nsition in molecular iodine has been determined in the range 2.633 les s than or equal to R(centroid)less than or equal to 6.035 Angstrom. We have measured a decreased of \<(mu)over bar>(e)\(2) of about 4 orders of magnitude, perhaps the largest variation of \<(mu)over bar>(e)\(2) yet observed in a molecule.
