La. Herman et W. Bowlby, CASE-HISTORY - AN EVALUATION OF STAMINA-2.0 BASED ON I-440 FIELD-MEASUREMENTS, Noise control engineering journal, 45(1), 1997, pp. 52-59
A field assessment of the traffic noise computer simulation program ST
AMINA 2.0 is reported in this case history. STAMINA 2.0 is the numeric
al realization of the traffic noise prediction model approved by the F
ederal Highway Administration for federally funded projects in the Uni
ted States. Field data were acquired at a relatively large number of s
ites near Interstate Highway 440 in Nashville, Tennessee, Data were ga
thered according to American National Standards Methods for Determinat
ion of Insertion Loss of Outdoor Noise Barriers, ANSI S12.8-1987 becau
se all sites involved some type of noise barrier. Traffic noise predic
tions of STAMINA 2.0 were compared with field measurements at 41 sites
along I-440. STAMINA 2.0 was found to generally overpredict traffic n
oise levels by an average of more than 2 dB in this study. (C) 1997 In
