Abstract
The disease is perhaps the clearest instance of a cancer for which ear ly treatment is crucial. Increasing knowledge of risk factors (includi ng brief, intense sun exposure and sunburn damage early in life) aids the identification of persons at highest risk-one reason for physician s not to be pessimistic about the value of urging patients to limit th eir sun exposure.
